Rutherford Group can provide a comprehensive range of auxiliary electrical equipment, including motor starters, pumps and auxiliary ventilation fans. The range of motor starters can be supplied as either individual free standing units or as part of a complete mobile substation that can be transported anywhere within the site to where the power is needed.

One of our main markets is for coal clearance systems where we supply turn-key electrical equipment packages for the conveyor power and control systems. Most conveyors currently operate off 415 Volt and utilise either a variable speed drive or a soft start system of operation, however there is a growing demand for 1000 Volt systems where we can now utilise a variable speed drive. We are able to package the product in-house to meet the local coal mining regulations, due to the nature of coal mining in Australia the majority of systems do not require to be flameproof, therefore the enclosures we manufacture are generally of IP65 design. The drive sizes for this application generally vary between 132kW and 525kW.

The robust design and construction make these products suitable for use in any mining or tunnelling environment where safety, quality and reliability are of the highest priority. The high IP rating also makes these units suitable for use in wet and dusty environments, and either indoor or outdoor locations.
